About Valence

Valence Reasoning was founded in 1994 as an early Artificial Intelligence startup. At the time, our capabilities were limited, but we were already committed to safety, security, and reasoning. Our earliest products were custom-built business solutions, but we soon expanded to consumers and established our research arm. Some of our early experiments revealed that AI safety was going to be of critical importance, and we set to work ensuring that no one would be able to develop or use dangerous AI systems.

Today, we have several key products and projects that highlight our commitment to safety, security, trustworthiness, and reasoning. Our state-of-the-art satellite surveillance technology keeps a look-out for anything that might be dangerous and alerts us so that we can eliminate such threats. While some have accused us of using our surveillance technology to eliminate competition, the results speak for themselves: humanity hasn't been destroyed by robots yet!

Our current CEO, Susan Winograd, has a long history of commitment to AI safety. Starting from the bottom as a simple research scientist at Valence, she has risen to the top through her careful planning and dedication. Her ability to multi-task, quick response time, and breadth of knowledge made her an instant asset, and we are proud to have her leading our small team! The rest of our members are scattered throughout the world, and appreciate her availability at any time of day!
